Home Remedies for Athlete's FootAthlete's Foot, technically called tinea pedis, is a skin disease caused by a fungus. The hot weather and foot perspiration that athletes typically encounter can make Athlete's Foot a common problem. The combination of a warm and humid environment in the shoes or boots, excessive foot perspiration, and changes in the condition of the skin combine to create a setting for the fungi of Athlete's Foot to begin growing. Athlete's Foot usually occurs between the toes or under the arch of the foot. Athlete's Foot CausesAthlete's Foot is a skin disease caused by fungi which occurs usually between the toes. The fungus attacks the feet because shoes create a warm, moist environment which encourages its growth. Poor hygiene, prolonged moist skin and minor skin or nail injuries are also factors that can induce Athlete's Foot. Athlete's Foot SymptomsTypical signs and symptoms of Athlete's Foot include itching, dry and cracking skin, stinging or burning, skin redness, rash or blisters, inflammation and discoloration and crumbling nails. Blisters and swelling may develop if left untreated. Small, red areas of raw tissue are exposed when these blisters break. As the infection spreads, the burning and itching will increase. Athlete's Foot is contagious. It can be spread through items such as shoes, socks and shower and poolside surfaces of spas, clubs, summer camps, etc. Athlete's Foot may spread to the soles of the feet and toes, plus other body parts, notably the groin area and the underarms. Home Remedies for Athlete's FootTake warm or cold water in a tub add a little crystal salt then soak both the feet for few minutes. Garlic will clean out many worms and parasites from the stomach and intestines, if eaten regularly, and in sufficient quantity. The juice of raw garlic can also be applied directly onto certain skin conditions that are caused by fungi or bacteria, such as Athlete's Foot, dry flaking skin, and ringworm. You could either use cotton wool soaked in the juice or rub a piece of sliced garlic directly onto the skin. Repeat every often. Garlic will not be as effective for virus caused skin conditions although it may help a little because it prevents secondary bacterial infections. Between the toes wash and dry feet regularly. Wear moisture absorbing socks like cotton or wool. Before putting on the shoes make sure that it is completely dry. Do not apply nail polish to nails that are suspected of infection. Feet should be clean and dry always. Wear shoes made of natural material such as leather or canvas and best to alternate shoes daily. Sprinkle baking soda on your feet to absorb moisture before putting on socks. To treat Athlete's Foot or a case of foot fungi, give Eucalyptus oil a try. For best results, apply a few drops to the affected areas two to three times daily. As well as killing the fungi, it helps relieve the associated itching. Keep these home remedies in mind to cure permanently from Athlete's Foot.
