Home Remedies for Cold Feet

A cold foot is one among the various diseases that affect an individual regardless of his age. The blood reacts to lowering of temperature in the environment by reducing the volume of blood transmitted to the extremities of the body. This results in the vulnerability of the feet. A cold foot is caused due to variety of reasons. It is also further classified depending on the condition of the patient suffering from the disease. Patients with other acute disorders such as Muscular Dystrophy, Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy as well as Raynauld Diaseasm Arthritis stand a greater chance of contracting cold feet.

Peripheral neuropathy is an important reason for contracting cold feet. PVD (peripheral vascular disease) is the medicinal terminology given to a collection of conditions resulting in improper and unbalanced circulation of blood to the regions of the feet and legs. The improper and unbalanced supply of blood to the legs ends up as cold feet. PVD is in turn influenced by the presence of Diabetes. The treatment is entirely dependent on the intensity of the symptoms. The treatment of cold feet includes an alteration in the lifestyle of the patient, procedures of releasing the blocked blood vessels and also medications.

Home Remedies for Cold Feet

Standing on toes for few minutes and then coming back down to heels is a way of relaxing cold feet. Repeating this process several times tickles the blood under your feet and warms it.

Walking in cold water for two minutes in the bathtub prior to going bed is recommended and briskly rubbing the feet dry with a coarse towel will allow the blood to flow fast. This gives warmth to the feet.

Each foot should be massaged for a time period of about 5 minutes. After this medication, each foot should be rinsed in tepid water and then dried.

Cayenne pepper or black pepper should be slipped into the socks of the patient to provide immense relief.

Hiking socks is an effective and stylish option to provide comfort to a person suffering from cold feet.

A hat is also one among the best options to treat cold feet. Keeping the warmth in the body is essential so maintaining the head or brain warmth is one of the ways to cure cold feet.

Hot liquids work wonder as long as treating cold foot is concerned. Drinking ginger tea is best to drive away the cold as ginger enhances the circulation. Drinking ginger tea with lemon is also great in warding away colds.

Add few drops of oil to a small tub filled with warm water and soak your feet for 15 minutes. Essential oils that can be used are ginger, cypress, peppermint and rosemary.

An elevated position for your feet is ideal. So as soon as you reach your home to keep yourself relaxed you can keep your feet a little high and relax. Doing some exercises also is of immense use as it makes the circulation perfect.

Revitalizing your feet is essential and this is well done by washing and soaking it in warm water with two spoons of Epsom salts. This should be left to dry and massaging them with any gel or cream gives great relief.
